Of the UK disabled population, almost 25% - some 2 million people are blind or partially sighted. For these people, accessible websites are essential. Could these people buy from you via the Internet right now?

brandid were early to recognise the significance and importance of accessibility and have been involved with the RNIB for some years and with David Grayson who was chairman of the UK's National Disability Council from 1996 to 2000. Accessibility and the creation of templates involves not only visual impairment but also physical issues, such as navigation without using a mouse. Partially sighted and blind people need access to all the same services as able-bodied people: shopping, banking etc. You need a properly constructed website that allows people to properly see or hear your information and so allow them to make a well-informed buying decision. Creating an accessible website now will give you a huge competitive advantage.

Usability is another aspect of accessibility and rather than the formal requirements of accessibility involves processes and procedures used to make a website more user-friendly.
